Hail Damage Estimate

Four questions. No email required. You get a range, what you may pay if your policy covers the damage, and the next step to confirm the repair.

The model uses the number of affected panels, dent density, and paint condition. An in-person inspection confirms the repair plan and written estimate.

01. What do you drive?

02. How much of it got hit?

Walk around the car and look across the panels at an angle. Dents show up in the reflection long before you see them straight on.

03. How bad is the worst panel?

04. Is the paint broken or cracked anywhere?

This is the question that moves the number most. Unbroken paint can be worked back out from behind the panel. Broken paint has to be refinished.

05. Your deductible (optional)

If your policy includes comprehensive coverage for hail, add the deductible shown on your declarations page to compare it with the estimate.

Answer the first four questions and your range appears here.

How hail repair is priced

Hail pricing comes down to three things: how many panels were hit, how dense the dents are on the worst of them, and whether the paint is broken. That last one is the big one. If the paint is intact, the dents can be worked back out from behind the panel and the original factory finish is never touched. That is paintless dent repair, and it is the cheaper path. Once the paint is cracked, that panel has to be repaired and refinished, which is a different job at a different number.

Accelerate Auto Repair and Collision does both paintless dent repair and full body and paint work. A shop that only does paintless work cannot tell you honestly which panels fall on which side of that line, because only one of the two answers is work they can take.

Cost per panel

Pricing bands used by this estimator. The total can exceed a single-panel repair because hail often affects multiple panels.
Condition of the worst panelPer panel
A few dents$150 – $300
Covered in dents$300 – $600
Visible from across the lot$600 – $1,000
Paint broken: panel needs refinishing$400 – $900

Blending the color into the neighboring panels is included in our estimate, not quoted as a separate line.

Should you file a claim?

Hail damage may be covered when your auto policy includes comprehensive coverage. Your policy, deductible, and insurer's claim decision control what is paid.

A worked example. If a covered repair is estimated at $2,400 and the policy has a $1,000 deductible, the amount above the deductible is $1,400. If the repair is estimated at $900, it does not exceed a $1,000 deductible. Use the estimator for the math, then confirm coverage and claim details with your insurer.

How long the wait is

After a hailstorm, inspection and repair appointments can fill quickly across the area. Booking an inspection early gives the shop time to confirm which panels qualify for paintless repair and which need body and paint work.

Paying your part

Financing may be available through Sunbit or Snap. They are different products, and approval, cost, payment schedule, and final terms come from the provider. Review the offer and agreement before choosing. See the current details on our collision repair financing page.
